Heather’s story

Heather started playing golf at 10 years old having been introduced to the game by her dad. By the age of 15 Heather got her first cap for Scotland at under 16 level. Representing Dunblane New Golf Club, Heather was capped for Scotland at every level: U18, U21 and ladies in almost every major amateur team event in Europe.

Winning the Scottish Girls Championship at Glenbervie Golf Club in 2001, Heather accepted a golf scholarship at College then University in the United States, she was the captain for the women’s team at San Diego State University in her final year. In 2005 Heather was selected for the Great Britain & Ireland team to play against Europe in the Vagliano Trophy where she was on the winning team. A month later Heather reached the pinnacle of her amateur career when she won the British Ladies Strokeplay Championship at Nairn Golf Club.

Achieving a handicap of +4 Heather turned professional in September 2007 at the Scottish Ladies Open, a European Tour event held at The Carrick on Loch Lomond. With over 60 European Tour starts, highlights include a 6th place finish at the 2013 Scottish Ladies Open, an opening 67 to be leading the Turkish Ladies Open in 2014 and of course, two wins on the LET Access Tour (Sweden 2013 & Belguim 2017)

Golf Lessons

Selecting a golf coach can be a difficult choice, from personal experience I know that how people coach and how people learn can be very different. As a player I like things to be kept simple so that when I am on the course I don’t have too many thoughts in my head, but as a coach you need to make sure your student understands how and why to make the changes. How we think when we practice is different to how we think when we play and finding the right balance is the challenge.

Being able to transfer the technical changes and thoughts into something more simple and playable is vital for you to produce your best golf on the course. How we think, how we make changes and how we transfer that on to the course is so important. Dealing with nerves, negative thoughts, pressure and excitement are all things that I have experienced myself on the course in the highest level of competition and I feel well equipped to share my knowledge and experiences.

We are all different in how we learn and whether it be in group lessons, individual lessons, intense packages or regular training sessions but I am here to help. With the use of video analysis, Trackman and online support we can make your golf experience better.

Heather has been a PGA Professional since 2007.
